Health Education Workshop - July 2008
The workshop was organised by Solas Health Education Committee, Chitral, supported by Solas Educational Trust and funded by Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland. It was held in the offices of the Deputy Director, District Health Development Centre (DHDC), Chitral.
Workshop on First Aid
In September a followup workshop was held that covered some of the basic aspects of First Aid. given the remote nature of many of the schools and teh distance from medical facilities it was felt that First Aid training could provide much needed assistace to both schools and the community. Further training workshops will be organised in 2009, if funding is available.
Cluster Schools workshop
The All Private School Association for Reorientation, which is referred to as ‘cluster schools’was established to promote educational methods and to improve the teaching environment in the member schools. They aim to achieve improvements in individual schools by working cooperatively. The schools have adopted common textbooks and a common curriculum and examination system. They are particularly keen on the training of teachers and are using a peer learning system where teachers from one school will go to other schools in the cluster to pass on particular skills.
Solas funded an 8 day training course for teachers of the cluster schools.
